INCIDENT SUMMARY:

On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at approximately 9:30 pm, officers responded to the “Gas and Shop” gas station on a report of an armed robbery in progress. The clerk reported that a subject entered the store wearing a mask over his face and carrying a handgun. The subject pointed the handgun at the clerk and demanded that he open the cash register. The clerk opened the cash register and the subject took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. A witness reported the subject ran southbound on Alameda De Las Pulgas towards Wessex Street. An officer who was responding to the robbery observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area. The officer followed the vehicle and noticed it was occupied by two subjects. The officer attempted to make an enforcement stop on the vehicle and the vehicle accelerated and failed to stop. The officer observed the front right passenger throw an object out of the window in the area of Madison Avenue and Sapphire Street. The vehicle continued eastbound on Madison Avenue and eventually pulled over and stopped. When the vehicle stopped, the front passenger, later identified as Suspect Cifuentes fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle, Suspect Molina was detained. A perimeter was established and officers began an extensive yard-to-yard search for Suspect Cifuentes with the assistance of a San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office K-9. The K-9 located Suspect Cifuentes hiding in the area of the 700 block of Topaz Street.

Officers recovered a replica handgun and a black ski mask that were thrown out of the vehicle. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

This is an on-going investigation and anyone with information regarding this robbery of these suspects is encouraged to contact Detective Roman Gomez at 650-780-7620. Both suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for armed robbery and evading arrest.
