March 29th.

0622 Hours: CSO Verandes responded to Joaquin Murieta Ave. regarding a stolen Honda that was taken overnight. While CSO Verandes was taking the report, Detective Warren located the stolen vehicle parked in a nearby motel parking lot with the engine running and a suspect sound asleep in the driver’s seat. The 20-year-old male from Oakland, was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was charged with the theft of the vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and burglary (he had burglarized a PG&E vehicle in the same parking lot). The suspect also admitted to driving the stolen vehicle the California Highway Patrol had pursued into Newark. From our previous Nixle post ... 0036 Hours: CHP Officers terminated a vehicle pursuit of a stolen vehicle that was last seen westbound Mowry Ave. Officer Norvell responds to the area and the abandoned vehicle is located at the extreme dead end of Mowry Ave. A K-9 track indicated the suspects fled on foot towards the wetlands into an area inaccessible due to cyclone fencing and barbed wire. CHP handled the recovery of the vehicle and no suspects were located.
The 20 year old male was booked at Fremont Jail.


0955 Hours: NPD units responded to the Check Center on Thornton Ave on a report of a subject trying to cash a stolen check. Officer Homayoun arrested the 22 year old male from Hayward. The suspect had stolen credit cards in his possession from at least three auto burglaries in Fremont. The suspect was booked at Santa Rita Jail for possession of stolen property, burglary, and identity theft.

1143 Hours: Officer Ackerman responded to Walnut Ave. on a report of domestic violence. A male suspect was arrested for domestic battery and transported to Santa Rita Jail.

1922 Hours: Officer Cervantes handled a Citizen’s arrest/shoplifting case at NewPark Mall. A 26 year old female from Fremont was booked into Santa Rita Jail for petty theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia and a Misdemeanor drug warrant. Additional charges were added for being in possession of a controlled substance and attempting to smuggle Heroin and a hypodermic needle into jail in her underwear.

2141 Hours: Officer Smith investigated a non-injury DUI related traffic collision involving two vehicles that occurred at the intersection of Cedar Blvd. and Thornton Ave. A 54 year old male from Hayward was booked at Santa Rita Jail for driving under the influence after being medically cleared at Washington Hospital.
