"NIXLE" TEST MESSAGE FROM EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (via SMS and EMAIL)
Good afternoon. . . .testing this public message system for training purposes. This is only a test.
This test message is delivered via the NIXLE text/email messaging system from the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management.
Periodic NIXLE tests like this are sent each Wednesday near 1pm, to give the subscribed recipients confidence that the system is working properly, and provides for Emergency Management staff training in sending out timely alerts..
NIXLE messaging system is an important part of our community alert and warning network. Tests are important to assure the system is functioning correctly. The NIXLE messaging system helps us keep you informed about local incidents that may impact you.
By request we now include traffic advice if any of our major roads are closed for an extended period of time. Although we don't catch all of them, we will send a NIXLE text message (and email) if there will be a long closure, such as for a major accident investigation. Also, occasionally we don't get advised when the road is open again, and may not issue a cancelation.
If you have any comments or questions regarding the NIXLE system, please call me at 360-385.9368. You can also email to us at [email protected].
Regards,
Bob Hamlin, Emergency Management Director
