106th St @ I69 Construction Begins Monday, April 4. Expect Congestion and Delays As New Interchange Is Built

Please be advised, effective on or after Monday, April 4, 2016, construction will begin on a new I-69 interchange at 106th Street in Fishers. The existing 106th Street overpass will be removed as part of the project. This will require closing 106th Street on or after Monday, April 11, with the resulting detour continuing throughout the year. The marked detour is Allisonville Road, 96th Street, and Lantern Road.

In addition to the 106th Street closure and detour, northbound and southbound traffic on I-69 will be shifted away from the median and lane widths will be reduced to 11 feet. Speed limits in the area will be reduced to 55 mph and lane restrictions and closures through the construction period should be expected.

Expect heavier than normal traffic and congestion throughout the construction period. Concert season at Klipsch Music Center, beginning in mid-May, will further add to congestion in the area on concert dates.

Please plan ahead, slow down, and minimize distractions when driving in construction zones. Give construction workers and fellow motorists a break as you plan extra time traveling through the area and remember that safety comes first. For more information and updates on the project, visit http://www.in.gov/indot/3399.htm. The construction is projected to be complete and open to traffic in November.
