Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Two Men on Numerous Charges

Columbus-On March 26, a traffic stop in Columbus led to the arrest of two men on numerous charges related to resisting law enforcement and possession of drugs.

The incident, which occurred at 5:10 pm, began when Trooper Robert Hutson conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 13th and McClure Road in Columbus, Indiana.  During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Hutson became suspicious of possible criminal activity taking place.  At some point, the driver of the vehicle, Ethan Spray, age 21, Scipio, Indiana fled from Trooper Hutson on foot.  Trp.  Hutson eventually caught up to Spray and placed him in custody.

Trp. Hutson then approached the passenger of the vehicle, Steven Elliott, age 53, Columbus, Indiana.  During the encounter, Elliott also resisted Trp. Hutson and was eventually taken into custody.  He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.  Spray was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.  Both men were arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Elliott faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement.  Spray faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting law enforcement, and obstruction of justice.

After being processed and booked-in to the jail, both men will be given initial court appearances in the Bartholomew County Courts.
