HCSO: North District Deputies Arrest Male for Aggravated Assault With Deadly Weapon.

(Harris County, TX)- On Wednesday, March 23, 2016, Harris County Sheriff’s deputies from District 1 north patrol , have arrested a charged a 19 year old male after he displayed a handgun to a woman and fled from deputies.

Deputy C. Pope responded to the Gulf Gas station located at the 15500 block of Kuykendahl Rd at around 2:45 pm, when the female complainant recognized Kevin Cruz-Flores (DOB 07/13/1996), as the man who entered her apartment through a patio door on March 20, 2016. The complainant stated he ran from the apartment when she encountered him.

The female then observed Cruz-Flores at the gas station, and told him not to come around her apartment building.

Cruz –Flores began arguing with the female, and threatened to have someone kill her. He then stepped back and raised his shirt, and displayed a black colored pistol. The female fearing for her life ran towards her vehicle and dialed 911. As deputy Pope arrived on scene, Cruz-Flores ran towards a wooded field directly behind the station.

A perimeter was set up and other deputies soon arrived, along with deputy D. Kerrigan and his K9 partner Bailey.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office helicopter ABLE 1 was also utilized in the search.

Deputies began searching the wooded area that is also located near an elementary school. The school was placed on temporary lockdown due to the dangerous nature of the situation.

Deputy Kerrigan’s partner Bailey located Cruz-Flores along a brush line. He was ordered to come out and show his hands, he refused all commands of deputies. K9 Bailey was deployed, and was able to bring him under control , where deputies placed him into custody.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a $35,000 bond.

Sergeant M. Lecompte, and the deputies assigned to District 1 evening shift deserve a great job done for apprehending this defendant , and the professional and efficient way of using manpower and resources to coordinate the scene.
