WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FOR CHEROKEE CO FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM CDT THURSDAY

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SIOUX FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 AM CDT THURSDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL GRADUALLY DEVELOP THIS MORNING AND CHANGE TO SNOW LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING. MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL QUICKLY DEVELOP THIS EVENING. SNOW WILL DECREASE LATE TONIGHT AND END BY DAYBREAK THURSDAY.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY...NORTHEASTERLY WINDS BETWEEN 20 AND 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. VISIBILITIES MAY BE REDUCED LESS THAN ONE QUARTER MILE IN FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...THE EVENING COMMUTE MAY BE IMPACTED...AND DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL QUICKLY DETERIORATE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
