Changing the world one basket at a time.

On Thursday March 24th the Green Bay Police Department and the Devine Temple are hosting the Spring Break “Bring your own 5” basketball tournament. The tournament’s mission is to provide a safe and fun environment for all young people, while instilling in them core values such as; good sportsmanship, team building, and leadership.

In addition, the tournament brings police officers and youth together to form relationships that will last a life time. “The relationships formed and the community working together for such a great youth oriented event like this is the foundation of community policing,” says Chief Andrew Smith.

Registration for the tournament starts at 12:30 PM and the games start at 1:00 PM. We encourage all youth to form a team come to the Boys n Girls Club (1451 University Ave, Green Bay). All youth are encouraged to attend and teams can be formed at the club prior to the tournament. All kids are encouraged to attend even if they are not playing.

Following the tournament, Papa Johns Pizza will be sponsoring a pizza party for all kids at the Boys and Girls Club. “We are not only helping change kids’ lives one basket at a time, but we are also doing it one pizza slice at a time,” said Chief Smith. “We really appreciate the hard work of the Divine Temple, and the generosity of Papa Johns. Without their partnership, this terrific event would not have happened.”

Please direct all media inquiries to the Boys N Girls Club. Media access to the basketball tournament will be made available.
