Advisory

Plan for HIGH WINDS tomorrow (SUNDAY)

The National Weather Service has issued an advanced HIGH WIND WARNING fo the Northern Interior (including the Port Townsend, Quimper Peninsula area) for tomorrow afternoon.  There is a possibility of gusts up to 70 mph at the peak of the storm.  That means downed power lines and road closures.  It also means that closure of the Hood Canal Bridge is possible.

This storm may be stronger than the one we experienced Thursday morning so residents in the warning area are advised of likely power outages and downed trees.  More information will be made available as we get closer to the event Sunday morning.

Use caution when using generators.  Keep them away from buildings and closed spaces due to build up of dangerous carbon monoxide fumes.  Try to avoid travel during peak winds.  Be prepared for major roads being closed due to downed trees or power lines.

The Jefferson County Emergency Operations storm team will activate Sunday at around Noon.  To contact the EOC during activation call 360-385-9368.
