There were 702 vehicles which drove through the checkpoint and a total of 692 drivers were checked for signs of intoxication and having a valid driver’s license. 8 drivers were asked to conduct series of field sobriety tests when it was discovered they had consumed alcohol during the evening. None of those 8 were found to be under the influence of alcohol. 3 drivers were cited for driving without possessing a valid California Driver’s License. 2 drivers were cited for driving on a suspended driver’s license.
One of those drivers Debra Dickerson a 60 year old female from Alameda was suspended for 2 prior DUI convictions the latest of which was in 2012. Dickerson was also court mandated to have in Electronic Interlock Device which would require Dickerson to provide a breath sample prior to being able to start her vehicle. Dickerson’s 2003 Honda Civic was not equipped with the device. She was issued a citation to appear for driving on a suspended driver license, not having the Electronic Interlock Device in her vehicle and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
The second checkpoint was located on Petaluma Blvd. North at Oak St. and ran from 10:30pm until 2:15am. Two drivers were arrested during this checkpoint for DUI. Denis Beaudoin a 21 year old male from Petaluma was stopped by an officer when he attempted to drive around cones in an attempt to avoid the checkpoint. He showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and performed poorly on FST’s. He submitted to a breath test and the result of the test showed he was over the legal limit of .08 BAC. Beaudoin was released to a responsible person with a citation to appear in court for DUI and driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of above .08.
