Owen County Task Force Solves Weekend Crime Spree, Including Several Felony Arrests

Spencer (Owen County) – Just before 7am this past Sunday, March 6th the Spencer Police Department received a call regarding a breaking and entering complaint at Weaver’s Auto Sales located at 2400 State Road 46 in Spencer. Upon his arrival, Spencer Deputy Marshal Terry Sips and met with a witness who told him he was inside his office when he heard noises outside that led him to believe someone was attempting to gain entry into the vehicles or into the business itself. While talking to the 911 operator, the witness heard glass break near where he was located inside the office. After the window was broken, the perpetrator moved the blinds and made eye contact with the witness who was still on the phone with the 911 operator.

The witness was able to give Marshal Sips a description of two white males that had fled the area immediately after making contact with him.

A perimeter was immediately set up by the Spencer Police Department, the Owen County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police. Shortly thereafter, two white males fitting the description given by the witness were found and apprehended east of Spencer on Flatwoods Road by Marshals Sips and Ryan Bonebrake.

As the investigation continued, the suspects initially refused to identify themselves to officers. However, they were ultimately identified as Sean P. Robinson, 18 of Westfield, Indiana and Tyler A. Crawford, 20 of Noblesville, Indiana.

It was later learned through another burglary complaint and police investigation the two men were allegedly involved in other criminal activities in Spencer the night before their arrest. Credit cards that had been stolen from a residence on Washington Street in Spencer had been used at various businesses throughout the night resulting in a spree of purchases at Circle K East, Speedway Station, Wal-Mart, Circle K West, Babb’s Supermarket, Stafford’s Liquor Store and McDonalds.
