SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 29, 2016, at approximately 2:32 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to the report of a traffic collision at Mariposa Road and Talpa Street in the City of Victorville. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that the driver of a white 2002 Ford Explorer, later identified as Jesse Capps, was travelling on Mariposa Road just north of Talpa Street in the City of Victorville. The Ford Explorer collided with a subject riding a bicycle in the roadway. Mr. Capps remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies. The rider of the bicycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is being conducted by the Region II Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is urged to contact Deputy Sahagun or Deputy Haynes at the Victor Valley Station.
