Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted armed robbery

Last night at about 7:47 PM, a masked man tried to rob a convenience store on Bodega Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Petaluma. The clerk called 911 and told the dispatcher that a man came into the store, pointed a pistol at him and demanded money.

The clerk did not give him any cash and the man ran from the store without taking anything. The man ran northbound on Skillman Lane. Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter, Henry-1, responded as well as seven Deputies. They searched the area but did not find the suspect.

The man was described as about 5’10”, 150 pounds, light skinned, wearing a black hoodie with a red bandana over his face, a short-sleeved shirt button-down shirt over the hoodie, dark pants and light shoes. He was armed with a revolver.

The investigation was referred to the Violent Crimes Investigations Detectives. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact our investigations Tip Line at 707-565-2185 or submit anonymous tip on our website by completing a Silent Witness form.
