Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner’s Office is releasing the names of the two people who died in the vehicle collision on the afternoon of February 14, 2016 on Highway 1 near Doran State Park, Bodega Bay, in the unincorporated area of Sonoma County.
The deceased are identified as Daniel McKnew, a 25 year old from Lake Jackson, Texas and Samantha Crowell, a 21 year old from Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
Both Daniel and Samantha were personnel stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Two Rock, CA. Their families were located and informed of their deaths by members of the US Coast Guard.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the vehicle collision. Any inquiries regarding the crash should be directed to that agency.
