A 22 male was struck and killed by a train at the crossing near Foothill and California in the City of San Luis Obispo.

On February 16, 2016 at approximately 4:54 PM, the San Luis Obispo Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the report of a train vs. pedestrian collision at Foothill and California. When they arrived they found an unconscious and unresponsive 22 year old male lying near the railroad tracks on Foothill. First responders immediately began life saving efforts at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital. Shortly after arriving at the hospital the man was pronounced deceased. At this time the young man’s identity is not being released until his family has been notified.
At this point in the investigation this incident appears to be a tragic accident. Based on statements and evidence located at the scene there is nothing to indicate this was an intentional act or suspicious in nature. San Luis Obispo Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact the police department.
