(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man has been arrested in connection to a vehicle theft, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Barry Keith Drenner, 58, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of first degree theft of property, which is a felony, and one count of third degree theft of property, a misdemeanor,” Lieutenant Robin Grant said.

Drenner allegedly took a 2005 Toyota Tacoma truck, in December 2015, without permission from the rightful owner. During the investigation, it was discovered that the truck had been driven by Drenner to New Orleans, Louisiana. He also used the victim’s identification to cash checks that were written on a closed account.

Drenner was apprehended in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was brought back to Etowah County to face charges.

Drenner is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $6,000 bond for the theft of property charges.
