Pursuit Leads to Felony Charges for New Castle Man

New Castle – A New Castle man was arrested on multiple felony charges this afternoon, after leading police on a chase that started in New Castle and ended in a thicket south west of New Castle.

The events started around 1 p.m., when Pendleton Trooper Nick Razor overheard a Henry County Dispatch report of a possibly impaired driver headed south on State Road 3, in New Castle.

Razor observed the tan Neon driving erratically south bound on SR3 in the 1700 block, and attempted to stop it. The vehicle turned west into a business lot, as if it were stopping, then fled west out of the lot driving erratically.

The Neon continued west out of New Castle, at times driving through yards and farm fields. Officers from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department joined in the pursuit, as well as the Shirley Police Department K-9 unit.

In the area of CR 275 W. and Greensboro Pike, the subject drove across a field and bailed out and ran into a grown up wooded area. The Shirley Police Department's K-9 was deployed, and the subject was captured a short time later.

Seth Waters, age 24 of New Castle, was arrested and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Fleeing, Level 6 Felony; Criminal Recklessness, Level 6 Felony; OWI Controlled Substance with Endangerment, Level 6 Felony and Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended. Waters was lodged in the Henry County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, with further charges possible. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
