APD investigating mail thefts in City View

On 2-9-16 APD was called to a mail theft in the City View area. It has been reported that several mail thefts have occurred in the area, however only one police report has been made at this time. There is a video showing what appears to be a light colored SUV pulling up to a mail box during the night time hours and taking mail out of the box. One witness reports that the vehicle may be occupied by two females. If you have been a victim of mail theft call the Amarillo Police Department at 378-3038. If anyone has any other information on this incident call Crime Stoppers at 374-4400 or tips can be submitted online at amapolice.org. The Crime Prevention Unit reminds citizens to try and gather their mail out of their mailbox as quickly as possible after it is delivered. If you are going to be out of town it is recommended that you put a hold on your mail online or at the Post Office or have a neighbor/ friend that you trust collect your mail. Outgoing mail should only be dropped off at a post office and never be placed in your mail box for a mail carrier to pick up.
