**3rd Update**Human Remains Found Inside Lomita Residence-Suspect In Custody #LASD Homicide
On Thursday, July 9, 2015, officials from the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the body found behind a wall in a residence in Lomita. The victim, 37 year old Raven Campbell had been missing in July 2009, from her residence in the 26800 block of Western Avenue, unincorporated Lomita.
Homicide Bureau personnel received information in late June 2015, that there was a body hidden behind a wall inside the residence. When Cadaver dogs were used to search the residence at the 26800 block of Western Avenue, unincorporated Lomita, they showed interest to possible human remains inside.
Homicide Bureau personnel, along with members of the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, responded to the residence on July 2, 2015, and excavated the body from behind the wall.
A post mortem examination revealed the victim was positively identified as Raven Campbell and the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
On February 3, 2016, deputies arrested Randolph Garbutt, male, Black, 43 years old, for a traffic warrant. He shared the Western Avenue residence with Victim Campbell at the time of her disappearance. After being released on the warrant, he was booked at the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station on February 4, 2016, for the murder of Raven Campbell.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, February 8, 2016, for filing consideration.
