Solicitation of Murder for Hire Arrest
On February 2nd, 2016 at about 7 PM, the San Luis Obispo Police Department was notified that S/Anthony STEVENS was actively looking for someone to murder a business associate due to an ongoing feud between the two men.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team utilized an Undercover Detective to setup a meet with the suspect in a public parking lot in Arroyo Grande. The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms provided assistance during the operation to ensure the safety of the operation and the general public.
During the meeting, S/STEVENS provided the Undercover Detective detailed information about the victim including his name, pictures and his home address. After agreeing on a price for the murder of the victim, S/STEVENS left the meeting and returned later with the cash payment. S/STEVENS was arrested at the scene without incident.
S/STEVENS was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on a charge of 653F(B)PC, Solicitation to Commit Murder. A bail increase to No Bail was authorized on S/STEVENS due to the severity of the charge.
