High Wind Watch in effect from late Friday morning through Friday afternoon

...HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE SOUTH WASHINGTON...NORTH AND CENTRAL OREGON COAST... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

* WINDS: NEAR BEACHES AND HEADLANDS...SOUTH WIND 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS 60 TO 70 MPH. COASTAL COMMUNITIES...SOUTH WIND 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS 50 TO 60 MPH.

* TIMING: WINDS INCREASING FRIDAY MORNING...PEAKING AROUND 12 PM AND 3 PM...DECREASING LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: ASTORIA...TILLAMOOK...LINCOLN CITY... NEWPORT...FLORENCE...RAYMOND...LONG BEACH...OCEAN PARK.

* IMPACTS: WINDS MAY CAUSE SOME TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES ON ROADS SUCH AS HIGHWAY 101 ALONG THE COAST...AS WELL AS FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SUCH AS TRUCKS AND VEHICLES PULLING TRAILERS. THE WINDS MAY ALSO CAUSE LOCAL TREE DAMAGE AND LOCAL POWER DISRUPTIONS.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CENTRAL OREGON COAST ... NORTH OREGON COAST
