Nature of Incident: Thousand Oaks Police and Fire Departments “Coffee with the Chiefs” Community Outreach Program

Location: P & L Burger, 2000-A Avenida de los Arboles, Thousand Oaks, CA
Date & Time: Friday, February 12th 2016. 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Unit Responsible: Thousand Oaks Police and Fire Departments
Narrative:
In 2015, the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to nearly 23,000 calls for service while the Fire Protection District had approximately 12,000 responses. Your law enforcement officers work specific neighborhoods or patrol areas, day in and day out. These patrol areas are called beats. This system of community policing allows officers to really learn and interact with the community and citizens they serve. Your Fire Protection District has numerous stations throughout your community to enhance their availability to each region. This structure is only part of the issue; however, it takes more than that. It takes even greater partnerships between public safety and the community.

One example of those types of partnerships is the monthly coffee with the Chiefs and on Friday, February 12th. Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel and Fire Chief Ted Smith will be at P & L Burger, located at 2000 Avenida de los Arboles, Unit A.

What's on your mind? The chiefs want to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea with you. Over the last four years these casual, spontaneous discussions between community members and the Chiefs has led to numerous resolutions of community issues that would otherwise have not surfaced.

Come share your concerns of your neighborhood, openly, over a free cup of coffee. Be a part of the reason that this is such a safe and desirable community. Contribute your ideas and thoughts.

Chief Smith and Chief Hagel will be present from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
