“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending Jan. 31st, 2016

ROBBERIES
On Tuesday, January 26th, Ofc. Young responded to James Logan High School for a robbery that had occurred the day prior. Two students had robbed another student of his Nike shoes. Two 16-year-old males, both Union City residents, were arrested and released to their guardians with a Notice to Appear.

On Saturday, Jan. 30th, around 1:15 p.m., Ofc. Seto was dispatched to the 34700 block of Alvarado-Niles Rd. for a just-occurred robbery. The victim was walking on the sidewalk when a suspect walked by her and pulled a gold necklace off her neck. He got into the back seat of a vehicle that drove eastbound on Alvarado-Niles. The suspect was described as an Asian male, 30-35 years old, 6’0” and 180 lbs., with short black hair, black eyes and a clean-shaven face. The vehicle was described as a silver or gray Volkswagen Jetta.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Indecent Exposure:
On Tuesday, Jan. 26th, around 3:45 p.m., Ofc. Willson responded to a business in the Marketplace shopping center (corner of Decoto and Alvarado-Niles) on the report of a male exposing himself inside the business. The suspect was identified and contacted by police officers, but the victim did not desire prosecution.

Stolen Property:
On Wednesday, Jan. 27th, officers responded to the area of Osprey Dr. and Skylark Dr. on reports of a potential mail thief. A suspect was contacted and was in possession of stolen mail from several different victims. Trevor Garske, a 32-year-old Fremont resident, was arrested.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 25th through Sunday, Jan. 31st, there were six reported residential burglaries:
• 32200 block of Regents Blvd.: Occurred on Monday, Jan. 25th, around 4:40 p.m. A witness called police and described a suspicious person in the area, covering his face with a T-shirt. Officers responded and contacted the suspect, who had entered the residence via a side window and was in possession of stolen property. James Delacruz, a 26-year-old Union City resident, was arrested.
• 20 block of Union Square: Occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 26th, between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss included electronics.
• 34800 block of Skylark Dr.: Occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 27th, between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss included electronics, checkbooks and cash.
• 5100 block of Sloan Way: Occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 27th, between 8:30 a.m. and 8:10 p.m. The glass rear sliding door was smashed, and the loss included electronics, jewelry and designer handbags.
• 4200 block of Comet Circle: Occurred on Thursday, Jan. 28th, between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. A rear window was left open, and the loss included electronics and a pit bull puppy.
• 2200 block of Eric Ct.: Occurred on Friday, Jan. 29th, between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Storage sheds were pried open, and the loss included work documents and collectible figurines.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, Jan. 25th through Sunday, Jan. 31st, there were no reported commercial burglaries.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, Jan. 25th through Sunday, Jan. 31st, there was one reported auto burglary, in which an iPad was stolen.

From Monday, Jan. 25th through Sunday, Jan. 31st, there were eight reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, five of the vehicles have been recovered.

One of the victims witnessed the theft of her vehicle and called the police. Gene Arciniaga, a 27-year-old Union City resident, was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit and felony car stop.
