Narrative:
On the afternoon of February 2, 2016, deputies from the Moorpark Police Department responded to a call of threats at the corporate office of PennyMac’s Loan Services located in the City of Moorpark. Deputies were told that a customer named Todd Duell called PennyMac to discuss an issue he had with an account and ongoing litigations. During the recorded conversation, Duell became upset with PennyMac’s response to his concerns. He made very specific and direct threats to come to PennyMac’s Moorpark office and shoot people to get their attention.
An immediate investigation into this very serious threat was initiated by the Moorpark Investigations and Sheriff’s East County Major Crimes Bureaus, which revealed that Duell was a current resident in the City of San Diego and capable of carrying out his threats. With the assistance of the Thousand Oaks and Camarillo Special Enforcement Units and the San Diego Police Department, Duell was taken into custody without incident and a search warrant was executed at his residence during the early morning hours of February 3, 2016. During the search of Duell’s home, investigators discovered and seized three handguns, one AR-15 type rifle and approximately 5000 rounds of ammunition.
Todd Alan Duell was booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility for one count of California Penal Code Section 422, Criminal Threats.
