Police engage in commercial enforcement of big trucks on Madera Road. 2 big rigs towed.

The Simi Valley Police Traffic Unit conducted commercial vehicle enforcement along Madera Road near Easy Street today. These big dirt hauler trucks have generated numerous complaints from our residents, including running stop lights; cutting people off and impeding the flow of traffic.

Officer Chris Coulter is one of our officers who is trained in commercial enforcement. He was riding his police motorcycle today and observed a registration violation. After stopping the near 80,000 pound big rig, he discovered the driver's license was suspended, as well as numerous equipment violations. He inspected the truck and deemed it non-roadworthy, and it was impounded on the spot.

While at that stop, Traffic Officer Howard Horwitz observed another fully-loaded big rig driving along Madera Road with a registration violation. That driver was stopped adjacent to the jobsite at LA Avenue and Madera. This driver was suspended as well for a prior DUI arrest; had 3 arrest warrants and also unsafe tires on the trailer. This big rig was also impounded on the spot and the driver was arrested.

A third truck was stopped by Officer Coulter and upon inspection, it was placed out of service due to having faulty brakes.

The Traffic Unit will continue to enforce these significant hazards to the community and we encourage residents to call about unsafe driving by these big rig trucks. It the commitment of the traffic unit to our community to keep the roads safe!
