IRS Warns Consumers to Guard Against Phone and Email Phishing Scams 
In the attached document, the IRS continues to warn consumers about the various tactics thieves use to trick their victims out of their money and personal identifying information. Please refer to the attached PDF for important tips and links to helpful information.
For quick reference:
- if you are contacted by someone posing as an IRS representative, and you DO NOT OWE taxes, do not give out any information. Hang up immediately and report the call to the US Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) at 800-366-4484.
- if you KNOW YOU OWE, or think you may owe taxes, call the IRS at 800-829-1040 for assistance.
