Mother Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing Her Children, 1000 Blk of W. 223rd St, Unicorp Torrance, May 26, 2014

On Tuesday, May 26, 2014 at approximately 5:10 p.m. Carson Station deputies responded to a rescue call in the 1000 block of west 223rd Street, unincorporated Torrance.  When the deputies arrived at the location, they were met by family members who indicated mother of three, Carol Coronado had just killed her children.  The deputies entered the residence to find the juvenile victims.  The suspect, Carol Coronado, was found next to the children.  She was immediately arrested. Carol Coronado was 30-years-old at the time of the incident and arrest.    

On Monday, February 1, 2016 Carol Coronado was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the stabbing death of her three children, according to a Los Angeles County District District’s Attorney press release.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 3-female juveniles in the 1000 block of West 223rd Street, unincorporated Torrance.

 

Detectives have learned that at approximately 5:10PM, Tuesday, Sheriff’s Deputies from Carson Station received a rescue call at the location. When they arrived, they were met by family members who told the deputies that a mother had killed her children. The deputies made entry into the residence where they located the three juvenile victims, ranging in approximate age of 3-years to 2-months-old. The suspect, and mother of the children, was located adjacent to the victims. She was immediately detained.

 

The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Deputies arrested and transported the suspect to a local hospital for examination. The suspect was subsequently transported to Carson Sheriff’s Station where she will be booked for 187 PC, Murder.

 

The crime scene and investigation are active and ongoing. Local residents are advised that the area at 223rd Street at Meylers Street will be closed for both pedestrian and vehicle traffic through most of the night. Please take alternative routes.
