Additional Information in Staunton Death Investigation
Clay County—This afternoon an autopsy was conducted on the female found deceased yesterday afternoon at 208 West Columbus Street in Staunton. The autopsy was conducted at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate foul play was involved and the manner of death was listed as homicide. No other information related to the autopsy will be released.
A positive identification has been established and the victim is 52-year-old Virginia Marie Myrtle of 208 West Columbus Street in Staunton. She was known as “Dee” to family and friends.
Family has been notified.
A joint investigation is ongoing by investigators from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police. When additional information is deemed appropriate to release to the public, it will be done so in a timely manner.
