Oakland, CA – On January 28, 2016, just after 2:00 PM, in a continued effort to locate missing person Diana Hajisaari, the Oakland Police Department Air Support Unit and Marine unit conducted one of many aerial and waterway searches of the San Leandro Bay. During the aerial search, the helicopter located a body in the water near the Alameda side of the San Leandro Bay. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
Today, the coroner’s office confirmed the identification of missing person Diana Gail Hajisaari, 62, of Berkeley. The coroner’s office is still determining the cause of death.
Background – Ms. Hajisaari was last seen on Friday, January 22, 2016 just after 10:00 AM, leaving her place of work, which is located in the 100 block of Swan Way. At approximately 12:00 PM, there was a possible sighting of her at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline Park.
Ms. Hajisaari was a female Caucasian, 62 years old, 5’4”, 110 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes. Ms. Hajisaari was last seen wearing a tweed jacket and a gray shirt.
Ms. Hajisaari was a resident of Berkeley.
