Advisory

NWS has issued Winter Storm WARNING for Teton CO thru 5p Sat. See link/email for message from Teton CO Sheriff.

The National Weather Service Office in Riverton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the mountains and valleys of Teton County through 5pm on Saturday 1/30.  Visit http://www.weather.gov/riw for the latest information on the storm.  Travelers should also visit http://wyoroad.info for the latest information on road conditions as this storm develops.

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS RELAYED ON BEHALF OF THE TETON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE TETON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SEARCH & RESCUE

The Teton County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure everyone is aware that the National Weather Service is calling for heavy snow in the Western Mountains from Friday afternoon through Saturday.  This new snow may make vehicular travel dangerous or impossible. Please plan appropriately, leave earlier than normal to arrive at your destination safely. Slow down and give extra spacing to the vehicles in front of you.

This new snow may also load and add instability to an already fragile snowpack.  We would like to remind backcountry travelers to show restraint when considering travel in and around avalanche terrain over the next few days.  Let’s work together to avoid an incident on our roads or in the backcountry.

Please drive and recreate responsibly and within your abilities. Heading out is an option, coming home is not.
