The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

January 19, 2016

1224 Hours: During a pedestrian stop on Lafayette Ave., Officer Homayoun arrested a 39 year old female of Oakland for two misdemeanor warrants. She was booked at FPD Jail.

1224 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated a residential ransack burglary that occurred on Normandy Drive between the hours of 0800-1400 hours.

1922 Hours: During a pedestrian stop on St. Isabel at the railroad tracks, Officer Musantry arrested a 58 year old transient male for 11364.1 H&S – possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at Santa Rita.

January 20, 2016

0914 Hours: During a security check near Highway 84, and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Fremont, Sgt Eriksen located a 37 year old transient male standing next to a female he is restrained from per a Criminal Protective Order. He was arrested for a violation of Penal Code section 273.6(a) - violation of a criminal protective order/domestic violence) and later booked at Santa Rita Jail.

0104 Hours: Officer Johnson arrested a 24 year old female of Oakland during a traffic stop. She was cited for 14601.1 VC – driving with a suspended license and released from the scene.

0425 Hours: Officer Geser took a theft report of (2) Fuji Brand mountain bikes from a residence in the 5300 block of Edgewater Drive. One was white and the other gray.

January 21, 2016

1247 Hours: Officer Knutson contacted and arrested a 35 year old male of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported and booked into Fremont Jail.

January 22, 2016

1824 Hours: Officer Losier handled a minor injury traffic collision that occurred at the intersection of Cedar Blvd. and Lido Blvd.

1824 Hours: After responding to a domestic violence incident at the homeless encampment to the rear of the Residence Inn, Officer Losier arrested a 58 year old transient male for 243(e)(1)PC – misdemeanor domestic violence and a restraining order violation. He was later booked at Santa Rita Jail.

January 23, 2016

0838 Hours: Officer Katz arrested a 37 year old male of Newark for his outstanding felony warrant after he was contacted at his residence on Albyn Ct. He was booked at Fremont Jail.

1517 Hours: Officer Katz accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 49 year old female of Oakland after she was apprehended by loss prevention officers at Macy’s. She was arrested and released on a citation.

1820 Hours: CSO Parks investigated a theft of a white 2000 GMC Sierra C3500 work truck containing various pieces of construction equipment from Quince Place. The theft occurred between 1/22/16 at 1800 hours through 01/23/16 at 1630 hours.

1802 Hours: Officer Smith accepted a shoplifter in custody from Macy’s Loss Prevention. A 45 year old female of Hayward was apprehended after she was observed placing lower priced tags on various clothing merchandise and paying significantly less than the items were worth. She was issued a citation and released.

0151 Hours: Officer Simon arrested a 24 year old male of Union City for DUI and not having a required interlock device installed on his vehicle. He was booked at Fremont PD Jail.

0218 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated a window smash auto burglary in the BJ’s parking lot which occurred between 2015 hours and 0218 hours. Loss was a set of golf clubs and Air Jordan shoes.

January 24, 2016

0630 Hours: Officer Jackman arrested a 37 year old male of Newark for 273.6 PC - violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order. He was transported and booked at Fremont Jail.

0930 Hours: Officer Mapes and Officer Katz responded to a residence in the 5800 block of Ravenswood Ave. to conduct a probation search of a resident. During the probation search, a 53 year old male of Newark was arrested for possession of a drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. He was issued a citation and released.

1506 Hours: Officer Jackman arrested a 41 year old male for possession of drug paraphernalia -11364.1 PC. He was issued a citation and released.

2041 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a window smash auto burglary that occurred in the alley behind Simply Thai located at 6295 Jarvis Ave. Loss was a MacBook Air, a Coach purse and wallet, a yellow backpack, and miscellaneous personal items including credit cards.
January 25, 2016

0802 Hours: After responding to a report of a subject illegally dumping construction debris on Souza Ave., Officer Mapes arrested a 29 year old transient male for two misdemeanor warrants. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

0843 Hours: During a traffic stop on Thornton Ave., Officer Allum arrested a 28 year old male of San Jose for reckless driving and marijuana possession. He was cited and released.

0847 Hours: Officer Nobbe handled a minor injury traffic collision involving a bicyclist that rode into a vehicle on Stevenson Blvd.

1201 Hours: CSO Verandes handled a prisoner transport from Elmwood Jail to Santa Rita Jail

1228 Hours: Officer Musantry arrested a 24 year old male of Newark for two misdemeanor warrants during a pedestrian stop on Newark Blvd. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

1923 Hours: Officers responded to an injury collision of a solo vehicle into a tree in the parking lot of Holy Redeemer Church, 35660 Cedar Blvd. Officer Kovach arrested a 52 year old male of Newark for DUI – 23152 CVC and 23247(e) CVC- no interlock device in the vehicle. He was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.

2011 Hours: Officers responded to a solo vehicle roll over collision S/B Cedar Blvd. at McDonald Ave. The driver suffered no injuries.

2304 Hours: Officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Wing Stop, 35030 Newark Blvd. Two suspects entered the business, one with a pistol and the other holding a knife. NPD Detectives are working with neighboring police agencies to try and identify these robbers.

0816 Hours: Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 52 year old male of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. Camp was released at the scene with a new court date.

1425 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 31 year old male of Union City for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported and booked into Fremont Jail.

1435 Hours: Officers Johnson and Howcroft contacted and arrested a 33 year old female of Fremont for possessing a controlled substance (H&S 11377) and for possessing drug paraphernalia (H&S 11364.1). She was issued a notice to appear in court and was released.

1521 Hours: Officer Ackerman contacted and arrested a 39 year old male of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

1537 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 22 year old female of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

2201 Hours: Officer Geser handled a solo vehicle traffic collision that occurred on McDonald Ave.

January 28, 2016

0657 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 22 year old female of Fremont for outstanding arrest warrants and for possessing drug paraphernalia (11364.1(a) H&S). She was transported and booked into Fremont Jail.

0801 Hours: Officer Allum contacted and arrested a 25 year old female of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. She was issued a notice to appear in court and was released.

1116 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 58 year old male of Newark for an outstanding arrest warrant. He was transported and booked into Fremont Jail.

1154 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 50 year old female of San Leandro for possessing drug paraphernalia (11364.1(a) H&S). She was issued a notice to appear in court and was released.
