Active Shooter Seminar for Teachers

The Marietta Police Department is pleased to announce that we are offering an Active Shooter Response Seminar for Teachers ONLY on Wednesday, March 2^nd, @ Marietta High School from 6:00-7:30pm. ALL teachers ranging from daycare to universities are invited and allowed to bring one guest.

The seminar will be focused on the role of the teacher and what to do during an active shooter event. MPD instructors will provide a large amount of information on what to expect when an active shooter event does occur, what items within your classroom can be used to protect you and your students, best practices on ways to secure your classroom to deny the shooter access, and what to do when law enforcement arrives. There are several simple steps that teachers can take to help provide assistance to law enforcement and to increase the safety of their students. During the seminar instructors will also provide product demonstrations for teachers and information on how they can obtain them. These product have been chosen based on policy guidelines of local schools. The seminar will last around an hour and a half and there will be time after for participants to stay and ask questions if they chose.

MPD feels strongly about educating our local teachers on what to do in these types of situations. We would like to cordially invite all City of Marietta School teachers and staff to attend this free seminar along with all other educators and support staff from daycare providers to universities within the State of Georgia.
