Advisory

Community: Pomona Police to participate in event to raise awareness that providing alcohol to minors is against the law.

Next week the Pomona Police Department will be participating in a 5 day campaign designed to raise awareness that providing alcohol to minors is against the law. "Project Sticker Shock" is a nationwide campaign that aims to reduce underage drinking by limiting youth access to alcohol. The goal is to educate adults, who might provide alcohol to youths, about the law that prohibits furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors. Providing alcohol to minors is currently punishable by jail, fine and/or probation.

During the awareness campaign teen and adult volunteers will place stickers, along with other materials warning purchasers that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors. This event will take place at various alcohol beverage retailers in Pomona, beginning on February 1st to the 5th . The Pomona Police Department is participating in this annual campaign in collaboration with Partnership for a Positive Pomona, the Pomona Youth and Family Master Plan Community Board and concerned residents. For more information contact Project Coordinator Sara Cooley at 909-620-7243
