Be prepared. Winter driving can present multiple situations.
Winter driving can present multiple situations where people may be forced to spend some time in the car - break downs, getting stuck in the snow, running out of gas or just warming the car.
If you ever find yourself in such a situation, it is recommended that you stay in your car for shelter. More importantly, it is imperative that you ensure the tail pipe is clear of blockages and that you crack your windows a bit to prevent possible carbon monoxide buildup. Provided these precautions are met, you can run your car at 10-minute intervals to keep warm. There should be a first aid kit in the car including a blanket.
Also, at home, before using the clothes dryer in the house, be sure that the outside vent is free of debris and blockages, especially snow, during this weather emergency. This can cause a carbon monoxide buildup in the home.
