Advisory

Phase II of winter storm Jonas

Good Afternoon,
As we continue to dig out from that dangerous storm, I want to thank everyone for complying with orders to stay off the roads. Our Public Works did a fantastic job in clearing the roads and remain out there finishing up.
Phase two of this storm is the cleaning up, I want to remind residents that live in the following zones;
2E,2W and 1W they must comply with Borough Ordinance # 21-5.1 so our children have a clear path to school.
21-5.1 Duties of Owners, Occupants or Tenants.
The owner, occupant or tenant of premises abutting public streets in Sea Girt Zoning Districts 2 East, 2 West and the west side of State Highway 71, between Chicago Boulevard and Sea Girt Avenue, shall remove snow and ice from the abutting sidewalks of such streets in order to create a two (2) foot path or, in the case of ice which may be so frozen as to make removal impracticable, shall cause the same to be thoroughly covered with sand, salt or other suitable abrasive within twelve (12) daylight hours after the same shall fall or be formed thereon. In the case the building is occupied by more than one family or business unit, then the tenant or occupant of the first floor or story thereof is required to remove all snow and ice from such portion of the sidewalks or, in the case of ice which it is impracticable to remove, shall cover the same with sand, salt or other suitable abrasive within twelve (12) daylight hours after the same shall be formed or fall thereon. (Ord. No. 18-2010 § 2)

Please see attached photo for location of these zones.

All other residents, please respect your neighbor’s property when snow blowing your driveways and sidewalks by blowing snow on your property only. Clearing of fire hydrants will only take a few minutes if you coordinate with your neighbors and could ultimately save important time in the event of a fire.
