A State of Emergency has been declared and this storm will intensify throughout the evening and is expected to produce snow accumulations of 18 to 24 inches. In addition, high winds with gusts are expected, resulting in a visibility of a 1/4 mile or less.
PLEASE avoid all non-essential travel and overnight parking will not be allowed on any Summit roadways.
Listed below are some helpful reminders:
Check on your neighbors, especially our senior citizens.
Please not pile snow in front or on top of fire hydrants. Keep your area fire hydrants clear of snow.
Please clear sidewalks of snow and ice. Take your time and pace yourself, don't overdo it.
Please do not put the snow from your driveway into the roadway as the DPW is working very hard to keep our roads clear and safe for everyone.
In the event of downed wires, residents are reminded to immediately report them to JCP&L, or the Summit Police / Fire departments.
Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity. Individuals should not try to remove trees or tree limbs from power lines and should wait for utility crews to arrive.
In the event of a power outage in your area, please make sure your generator is properly ventilated and away from the house.
