2016 Tour de Palm Springs Charity Bike Ride Today

We’ll have bicyclists, runners and walkers on our streets this weekend, so please be extra alert, cautious and patient if you’re driving in town. The 2016 Tour de Palm Springs Charity Bike Rides will have their start and finish in downtown Palm Springs on Saturday, Jan. 23. The start will begin at Palm Canyon and Alejo Road, heading east on Alejo and turning north on Indian Canyon. To accommodate the vendor expo and bike rides: • Palm Canyon Drive between Alejo Road and Tahquitz Canyon Way will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m., Friday, until 7 p.m., Saturday. • Tahquitz Canyon Way will be closed to westbound traffic between Indian Canyon Drive and Belardo Road from 7 a.m. Saturday, until 7 p.m., Saturday, • Alejo Road will be closed between Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday • Additionally, northbound Indian Canyon Way from Aljeo Road to Vista Chino will be reduced to one lane from approximately 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Here are the start times for the rides and walks on Saturday and the routes are attached: • 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. staggered start –100-MILE RIDE • 8:00 a.m. 50-MILE RIDE • 9:00 a.m. 25-MILE RIDE • 10:00 a.m. 9-MILE RIDE • 10:15 a.m. 1 and 3 mile walks which go westbound from Palm Canyon on Alejo.
