OPD Officers Make Car Stop, Recover Assault Weapon – On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at about 6:23 PM, Oakland Police officers elected to conduct a traffic stop related to a vehicle code violation. During the preliminary investigation, officers discovered an illegal assault rifle. The driver was arrested at the scene. Officers additionally recovered multiple rounds of ammunition.
OPD Arrests 3 for Burglary – On Thursday, January 21, 2016, just after 12:00 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to a residential burglary in the 400 block of Thompson Avenue. When the officers arrived on scene, they were able to locate three suspects, who were arrested in connection with the residential burglary. Additionally, the vehicle the suspects were driving had been reported stolen. Investigators are looking into the possibility that these suspects may be connected to other crimes.
