It is the policy of the Jackson Police Department that officers will respond to all traffic accidents. There are some exceptions that would prevent officers from responding. Some exceptions that would make immediate response by department personnel impractical for minor non-injury traffic accidents are snowy or icy road conditions or a departmental mobilization.
During such conditions callers reporting minor non-injury traffic accidents will be advised by communications personnel to exchange names and addresses, and come to the Police Station when conditions have stabilized so that the proper report(s) may be completed.
The Shift Commander reserves the authority to make the decision on whether officers respond based upon the aforementioned conditions.
