High Surf Advisory in effect until noon PST Today

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST TODAY FOR THE SOUTH WASHINGTON AND NORTH OREGON COASTS... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A HIGH SURF ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON PST TODAY.

* SEAS...18 TO 20 FT WITH LONGER THAN NORMAL PERIODS OF 17 OR 18 SECONDS. THIS WILL RESULT IN HIGHER THAN NORMAL BREAKERS AND RUN UP OF SURF ALONG BEACHES AND IN THE SURF ZONE.

* IMPACTS...LARGE WAVES WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO WASH OVER JETTIES AND WASH HIGHER UP ON BEACHES THAN NORMAL. THEY MAY ALSO DISLODGE AND MOVE LARGE LOGS AND OTHER DEBRIS ON BEACHES THAT CAN EASILY CATCH PEOPLE OFF GUARD AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTH OREGON COAST
