Now that all information is in, The North Brunswick Police Department has compiled and reviewed our statistics for the 2015 calendar year. The information not only helps us to define what we accomplished in the previous year, but also helps us to develop strategy for the trends we may see in 2016.
Here are some of the statistics that was 2015:
Ø The North Brunswick Police Department handled at total of 77,751 incidents, including 22,895 calls for service.
Ø There were 1,968 motor vehicle crashes investigated and reported.
Ø We conducted 18,659 motor vehicle stops, resulting in 23,948 summonses issued.
Ø There were 1,159 total arrests for the year.
Ø We saw decreases in robberies (-23.1%), auto burglaries (-18.6%), and shoplifting (-57.9%), bringing our overall Crime Index down by 21.2%
Ø Looking at the period of the last 10 years, comparing 2005-2015, we have seen robberies drop by over 50%, non-residential burglaries drop by almost 68%, residential burglaries fall by approximately 25%, motor vehicle thefts decrease by 57%, and arson decreased by exactly 50%. 2015 was also the ten year low of all types of burglaries combined!
Ø We have added some great equipment to our fleet, as well as adding five Officers to the street, with five more currently undergoing Academy training. For this, thank you to the Mayor, Township Council, and Business Administrator’s Office for their continued support.
