The following information is from a St. Clair County Sheriff's Department press release regarding a recent phone scam:

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department has received numerous reports from the community involving a scam where an individual represent himself as a St. Clair County deputy. The individual identifies himself as Deputy James Marshal and calls from phone number (618) 972-6040. The suspect advises the victim they have missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. He instructs the victim to obtain prepaid money order cards and provide the information in order to clear the warrant.
