The Sheboygan Police Department would like to make people aware of a scam which targets the elderly. This scam is similar to others, in that the suspect calls saying a loved one is in jail and needs to be bonded out. In this particular scam, the victims are encouraged to purchase iTunes gift cards to secure the bond.

If you receive a call like this you can be sure it is a scam. No police agency in the United States will accept iTunes gift cards as bond. If you have concerns that a loved one may have been arrested, the best course of action is to contact the law enforcement agency involved and ask them directly. Do not call the fake number that is provided by the suspect, but look up the phone number independently.
