Suspect Arrested After Threatening Call to Elementary School.

Ripon, CA – Today, at approximately 7:30 am, staff at the Ripona Elementary School (415 Oregon St.) called the police department to report telephonic threats to school personnel. Out of an abundance of caution, Ripon patrol officers were on scene within minutes to ensure the safety of staff and students. Detectives with the Department's Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) were able to quickly identify a suspect in this case. Ripon detectives responded to Hayward Ca. where they located the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Karen Marie Escobar (50) of Hayward Ca. was booked into the San Joaquin County jail on a felony charge of threatening school employees.

Ripon Police spokesperson, Lt. Steve Merchant said the close working relationship between the Ripona Elementary School staff; the Ripon Unified School District staff and the police department were the keys to the swift resolution of this case.
