1/17/16, press release - Burglary/Possession of Burglary Tools

On 17 January 2016, at approximately 2335 hours the Burlington Police Department was dispatched to an alarm at Henry’s Diner located at 155 Bank Street, Burlington, Vt. Burlington Police Officers quickly responded to the alarm and an initial responding Officer observed a male subject leaving the immediate area of Henry’s Diner. The male, Ricky Rich 38, was located and detained by other responding Officers. Rich was found to be in possession of a burglary tool which he had concealed on his person. The burglary tool seized from Rich was consistent with the tool pry marks used to damage the door and make entry into Henry’s Diner.

Rich was lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $5000 bail. Rich is scheduled for arraignment at 1030 on 01/19/2016 at Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Rich’s criminal history revealed 9 misdemeanor convictions and 5 felony convictions. Among his criminal convictions, Rich has three misdemeanor convictions for Buy/Receive/Sell/Possess/ Conceal Stolen Property, one conviction each for misdemeanor Unlawful Trespass and Retail Theft. Lastly, Rich has four felony convictions for Burglary and one felony conviction for Unlawful Trespass.

A person convicted of burglary shall be imprisoned not more than 15 years or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.
