Trooper McQueary and "Jordy" Graduate from ISP K-9 School

On January 15, the Indiana State Police held a graduation ceremony for the 2016 ISP K-9 Class at the Indiana State Police Museum in Indianapolis. The ceremony graduated four ISP Troopers and their K-9 partners.

Trooper Jared McQueary from the Lafayette Post, and his K-9 “Jordy” were among the graduates. McQueary is a two and a half year veteran of the ISP. “Jordy” is a 18 month old German Shepherd imported from the country of Poland. “Jordy” will accompany McQueary on routine patrol within the Lafayette District.

During the 12 week academy, “Jordy” had 500 hours of training in narcotic searches, aggression control work, building searches, tracking, certified in the detection of narcotic odors. The K-9 academy was under the direction of ISP Master Trainer Sergeant Dennis Wade and trainers Master Trooper Kevin Waters, Senior Trooper Mick Dockery and Senior Trooper Chris Richey, along with ISP K-9 coordinator Tony Knox, and ISP Special Operations Commander Major Pat O’Connor.

Lieutenant Tom McKee, Commander of the Lafayette Post, stated, “We at the Lafayette Post are proud and excited to get Jordy” and McQueary on the road assisting the troops to get illegal drugs off the streets”.
