MOSES LAKE, Wash. (2016JAN14) – A 31-year-old Portland, Oregon woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Road 2-Southeast and Road O-Southeast, about 2-½ miles southeast of Moses Lake.

Tyler Cowdry, 35, of Portland, Oregon was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee south on Road O-Southeast when he failed to notice the stop sign at Road 2-SE. As he proceeded through the intersection, his vehicle was hit by a westbound 1992 Dodge Dakota driven by Dillan Leslie, 27, of Moses Lake.

A 31-year-old Portland, Oregon woman was sleeping in the back of the Jeep when the collision occurred. She was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her body is in the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison whose staff will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Coroner Morrison is attempting to locate her family to make the death notification.

Cowdry was flown by MedStar to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland. He sustained broken ribs and a lacerated spleen. He is listed in stable condition in the ICU.

Leslie was transported to Samaritan Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for bumps and bruises and released.

Both Cowdry and Leslie were wearing seatbelts. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs are a factor. The collision is under investigation.

There was a four-year-old brindle Pitbull named Jenny (photo attached) riding in the front seat of the Jeep at the time of the collision. She ran from the scene and her whereabouts is unknown. If she is found, please contact MACC Dispatch at 509-762-1160.
