With 29 years of law enforcement experience, and 10 years as the commander of the Etowah drug unit, Savage retires for personal reasons.
"I am grateful to Rob for his friendship and dedication to the drug unit and Etowah County," Sheriff Todd Entrekin said. "He helped create a task force that is used as a model across the State."
Savage also led the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG).
Southside Mayor Wally Burns, chairman of the board, said, "Rob has been a friend to me and Etowah County for many years. He has done an outstanding job. I wish him the best in any endeavors that he may have in the future."
Savage's retirement is effective immediately.
