On January 12, 2015 at approximately 3:15 pm, Lake County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a report of a deceased male, who was located on a rural parcel of property in the Blue Lakes area. It was also reported that 26 year old Calvin Bennett McDonald of Upper Lake may be a suspect in the victim’s death.

The deputies located the victim and immediately requested that detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit respond to the scene. As additional deputies and detectives were responding to the area, Central Dispatch provided a description of McDonald. At approximately 3:45 pm, Calvin McDonald was located in the area of Blue Lakes Cove and W. State Highway 20 in Upper Lake and was immediately detained.

The male victim was identified as 26 year old James Flowers of Upper Lake. The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this case as a homicide. The exact cause of death is pending autopsy results, which is scheduled for later this week.

Calvin Bennett McDonald was arrested for murder. He was transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked. His bail is currently set at $1,000,000.
