Troopers Kept Busy with Weather Related Crashes
Putnamville—Indiana State Police Troopers from the Putnamville Post were kept busy today with multiple weather related crashes. They occurred between the hours of 6:00a.m. and 2:00p.m.
Troopers responded to (2) minor personal injury crashes; (12) property damage crashes; and (6) slide-offs, all related to snowy/icy roadways. The overwhelming majority of the crashes involved drivers driving too fast for conditions.
Four of the crashes involved jackknifed semis on Interstate 70 in Clay and Putnam Counties.
One crash on Sanford Road just west of SR 63 in northwestern Vigo County involved a 26-year-old pregnant female who lost control and rolled her vehicle. She was wearing a seatbelt and received no injuries, but was transported to the hospital for a routine check. A reminder that seatbelts do work!
I-70 was closed intermittently for removal of crashed vehicles.
The majority of the crashes occurred on I-70 in Clay and Putnam Counties, but troopers also responded to crashes in Vigo and Sullivan counties along county and state roads.
Attached pictures are from the Sanford Rd crash (Vigo County) and the 30mm jackknifed semi in Putnam County.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
